FAQ
-
What is VEYA?
VEYA is an international art magazine that showcases emerging artists, writers, and creators. We celebrate visual storytelling, and creative voices from around the globe.
-
Who can submit their artwork?
Anyone, but we especially encourage submissions from young or emerging artists. You don’t need formal training or a CV, just a perspective and something to share.
-
Do I have to be from a certain country or background?
No. VEYA is open to everyone, though we center voices from Sub-Saharan Africa, MENA, Asia, and Latin America.
-
What kind of work can I submit?
- Visual art (painting, illustration, photography, collage, digital)
- Writing (poetry, flash fiction, essays, visual text)
- Crafts (textiles, ceramics, embroidery, printmaking)
If you’re unsure, submit anyway—we’re open to work that doesn’t fit neatly in a category. -
Does it cost anything to submit?
No. Submission is free, and artists will always be credited.
-
Will contributors be paid?
While we are currently limited in funding, we’re committed to valuing every artist who shares their work with VEYA. All selected contributors will receive:
- A dedicated spotlight on our website and socials
- A printed copy of the issue (when possible) or a digital version
- Ongoing visibility through our creative community
- A letter of publication or contribution upon request
-
Can I submit in my own language?
Yes! You can include a translation (optional), but we welcome work in all languages. We celebrate linguistic diversity. Your work will be translated into various languages in the end to be purchased.
-
How many pieces can I send?
Up to ten pieces per submission. If you’re submitting multiple types of work (e.g. art + poetry), you can combine them.
-
Will I hear back if my work isn’t accepted?
Yes, we’ll email everyone. This is a community magazine, not a black box. If we can't include your work this time, we hope to stay in touch.
-
Can I collaborate with someone else?
Yes. Collaborative work is welcome, just let us know who’s involved when you submit.
-
Where will the magazine be distributed?
VEYA will be distributed across the United States and United Kingdom, with the goal of reaching parts of Sub-Saharan Africa, MENA, Asia and Latin America in the coming months.
